Hello friends :)
It's been a while since I've written, mostly due to the regular, but also due to a spirit that has been plaguing me with loops of its death for a few months.
So what part of our brains is receptive to spiritual frequencies. I use the frequency term losely as no one I know of is sure of what makes us able to see and hear and otherwise experience spirits. Animals, children, people with certain mental 'disorders' - and of course mediums, psychics, whatever you want to call them.. all are able to sense spirits more aptly than others. Is it something to do with the brain, glands, something physical? Or is it something more obfuscated by our current stage of species development? I mean, metaphysics - but I tend to feel off about certain words with bad connotations. Although it is easier for the purpose of blogs and conversation.
I find that certain animals are more acutely aware of spirits than others. Of course I don't have access to all animals on the planet - although that would be wonderful, I love animals. In my limited experience, I have seen animals that are more receptive.. perhaps some animals just don't care about spirits, and therefore although appearing ignorant of the existence of the dead - they can still see/sense them as plainly as the nose, beak, or whatever on their faces. So here's a list of what I have observed.
1. Cats - Housecats
Cats can see, hear, smell, and sometimes even seem to touch spirits. This is consistent through all the cats I have been in contact with. Some cats freak out when spirits come to close, or try their little games with the cats. By games I mean classical haunting behavior, tantrums of the dead, or just trying to be mean. Spirits tend to dislike being around cats for very long. It seems to be a universal reaction. They are repulsed, but not in a disgusted way - in an uncomfortable and irritated way with a touch of worry. I've asked many times what it is about cats, but usually get the spiritual equivalent of a shrug from the spirits. "They give me the creeps" once from the spirit of a young man from Calgary - that was the most memorable answer, as he did a full body sort of shiver. Another spirit once told me it was hard to concentrate (and thereby manifest in various ways) around them. They don't know the WHY but they know how it makes them feel. There seems to be a slight exception, and that is Cat People. I don't mean mutant people that are part cat!! hehe I mean people who love cats and live with cats, and not necessarily crazy cat fanatics - although I can understand extreme cat love. They seem to adapt to the confusing/creepy/weird feelings that cats seem to create. It takes time, so if you're a cat person, please don't panic when you die and find that your pretty calico makes you feel the willies to the point of pure aversion. Take the time and get used to it, all will go well. I have told many newly-dead people the same and it works out over time.
Personally I believe there is a strong possibility that cats have evolved through selective breeding (most likely unconsciously on the part of humans) to be guardians. I hate to be trite but the Egyptians revered them for many wonderful qualities - one being a guardian from evil spirits. Sadly, it probably kept away good dead people too, unless they had the tenacity to get used to the feline friends.
-- I believe all humans can sense spirits. I have seen it sitting in a theater, spirits passing over and people shuddering or scratching the part of the body that the spirit had passed over split seconds before. But that's another article! Animals don't have the same taboos about spirits, therefore they don't dampen the growth of whatever aspect of their being detects the dead.
2. Dogs!
Our best friends' history is not as famous for guarding against evil spirits - so much as guarding the living. However, they react to spirits almost as often as cats. I have observed them staring at spirits that I can barely sense - whether or not they sense the spirits better than me, or they are trying to 'squint' like me to get a better view. (I am by no means a super medium, however, I am not the best in the world, but my experience is the only one I can 100% relate in truth and accuracy.) They don't seem to give spirits the heebie-jeebies, but sometimes the spirits spook them instead. Barking is often a response to a spirit expressing themselves in some way - perhaps a warning bark or perhaps communication. I don't speak dog ;)
(More to come here, I just wanted you to know I'm alive!)
